August 4, 2009

First off, I want to tell all of my fans that I am sorry for not having a Blog yesterday.

As many of you know I moved over the weekend (which was an adventure in itself) to a bigger place. We’ve gotten everything unpacked except for a few boxes with random computer parts. I think Computer parts are going to be the “junk” in my garage when I become a Dad. Growing up, and even today there are car parts and random tools in my dad’s garage; but for me, I’ll have a bunch of computer parts… sign of the times? Maybe. My dad and his friends talk carborators and fuel injectors; My friends talk PS3’s and NCAA Football. Is there a point where we start talking cars and thermostats ?

Well, at some point right after the move, we (I) lost the car keys :(. So, Monday we spent the day getting that handled. We also had to deal with Comcast; apparently yesterday was “Migrate to Comcast” day, because it seemed like a good portion of town was at the office. Even after we got the new equipment from them, the actual service didn’t kick in until later that night; I was without real Internet (thank God for the iPhone)¬† for almost 4 days. Do you know how much can happen on the Internet in four days ???

As you may have read, all I’ve done on the blog was my Previous Monday’s entry. I’ve had plenty on my plate this summer with the Job and Platform Nation. I’m starting to get the hang of how things work over there. Make sure you’re reading my articles and making me popular ūüôā

If you say “1 Fresh” at 1 Fresh Stir-Fry, you’ll get a free drink with your order.

True Blood. Yeah, just watch it; there isn’t much else I need to say about it.

There is something that’s disturbing me. It deals with the little black girls of America, and their parents.

You think THIS is bad???

There was a video that I saw on MediaTakeout.com (it has been removed at the time of this blog; it’s like the article never existed…) let’s just say the things I saw the little girls were doing I’ve only saw done at Reggae Parties…The following video probably isn’t safe for work…

But this video is a pretty accurate representation of what those girls (no more than 11) were doing.

What is going on with our community ???

There were at LEAST two adults at this party (1 of them taping the spectacle) and NO one decided to stop this. Why? WHY is this acceptable ? why is it no one snatched these kids up ??? I understand that they are watching adults do this and mimic what they see, but really ??? what ever happened to keeping kids innocent ? I’m not going to start telling people HOW to raise their children, I’m just saying.

March 23, 2009

Happy Monday everyone. Even though I woke up a little later than I planned, I’m actually feeling
pretty good.

As always, let’s start off with what you may have missed last week.

  • I give a little advice, got an AWESOME coupon from a friend, and tell about an upcoming opportunity.
  • I ask poets to send me some of their work.

That was about it for last week. Sometimes I have busy weeks here, sometimes… not so much.

**Ncaa Dynasty results **

Cal beats ECU in their rematch from the National Championship 31-21 thanks to a late game 85yd INT for a TD. Illinois had a romp against LA Tech, and USF handles UCF in the battle of I-4. This week Cal and and Illinois have bye-weeks, and ECU and USF meet. USF is currently undefeated and ECU is hungry for a win; who is walking away with the win ???

**end of Dynasty results**

This week, get a free drink at One fresh when you say “I know 1”.¬†¬†¬†How is your March Madness Bracket looking? Mine? it could be better… ¬†FSU let me down pretty badly, I guessed they were going to the Sweet 16, but Wisconsin wasn’t hearing that. ¬†I was still able to select 12 of the sweet 16-ers; Don’t let me down guys.

Well, like I said previously, I met Salt’s “better half” this week; Honestly? I’m pretty neutral about him. I don’t “dislike” him, but I don’t “like” him either; Just really neutral about him. Not sure if that’s a good thing… I’ll just keep an eye on him.

Not much else is going on this week, still trying to gather some poetry for my soon coming poetry corner. I’m not sure what I’m doing with it yet, it could just be a place for poets to get their stuff read. Maybe have themes every once in a while… maybe even turn it into a contest. ¬†Seriously, if you or anyone you know is a poet; send me an email with your work. Rules and regulations for this entry can be found here.

Talk about FISH sightings; I wake up to a Fish advertising a massage service: $15 for males and ladies. She is certified and license so it’s not one of those “Shady Craigslist” things… ¬†She also offers a $5 bonus for guys; I’m not sure what it is though; but she insists it’s not a “happy ending” well, I trust her :). If you need her contact info, lemme know. Maybe you’ll get a discount if you tell her I sent you… *maybe*

Listening to Steve Harvey’s Radio show… ¬†there was a guy who essentially was talking about the need for black people to stop blaming everything on “the man”. Yes, in certain situations, we are ill-equipped/represented; but “the man” isn’t the one on the corner selling drugs, robbing your fellow man, and impregnating every women being “loose” with every woman¬†they shake hands with. We as a people need to do better.

**This  blog has been spell-checked once for accuracy**

Well, I’m back from Spring Break !!!

Not that I really DID anything… but¬†I’m back¬†ūüôā *Lyrically, NSFW*

How was your Spring Break?

Here’s what you may have missed last week:

  • Ms. Blogmaster¬†finally joined¬†the facebook¬†cult¬†community. Speaking of which,¬†Facebook¬†received ANOTHER graphical update. Personally, I’m all for staying on the cutting edge… but come on, slow it down a little please? and shouts out to¬†Oprah Winfrey, who I know will be my friend for REAL (on facebook) and not just me being a fan of her show (not that I’m really a fan… but I was under the impression this was how she and I could be friends)
  • I’ve been offered an¬†interesting opportunity.

Honestly, I spent most of my spring break playing video games. New Season of NCAA football started. ECU lost to Illinois 24-0, and Cal lost to USF 24-11. This week; ECU plays USF in a battle of those seeking their first win; USF faces UCF in “The Battle of I-4“, and Illinois battles Louisiana Tech.

Als0 this week, I get to meet Salt’s Boyfriend… Over-protective brother suit-¬†power extreme¬†!!! (Flashback intro)

I’m not going to cause problems, but I will ask many questions. I will have my eye on you, sir. ¬†

OH !!!

As I mentioned at the end of last week’s blog, I told you about a new blog that has emerged from one of the¬†twisted minds¬†in my inner circle:¬†A Blind Mind. Last week, he posted an opinion on the double standard in our¬†society dealing with promiscuity. I suggest you check it out, It’s NSFW, but honestly, which of¬†my friends¬†really are ???

**Guilty Pleasure alert**

So many moons ago, there was a¬†Online Soap Opera¬†err, Weekly-Updated story line revolving college students (many of who belong to a NPHC organization) at a fictitious HBCU. All of a sudden, they stopped the updates. Sad, I found other things to pass the time. It was brought to my attention that not only is the series back, but with a new spinoff. It is known as “As The Sands Burn” or ATSB for short. According to the website, they update every Thursday, we’ll see; but for now, go get caught up and enjoy.¬† If you want the original series:¬†go here.¬† I know the setup is really confusing but remember this order: 3,4,7,2,1 That should be the order in which you visit those links. I suggest you bookmark it. I’d like to interview the Creator (and new author) but i’m still new in the blog world.

**End Guilty Pleasure**

Soo… We went to¬†Harry’s This weekend. As many of you may have remembered, I didn’t have a great experience last time. I sent them a “Letter of concern”¬† and they sent me some gift cards. Since I like discounts, I couldn’t help but give them another chance.

Honestly?

They did their job quite well. I don’t know WHAT happened to them after I sent the letter, but they seemed to have undergone some renovations. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted by both hostesses, and they were very nice, and we were seated pretty quickly. Our server was actually pretty nice; very courteous, and checked on us just enough so it wasn’t¬†creepy. I think the manager stopped by our table about twice to check up on us to make sure our food was good.

The food was good; I ordered the Salmon, and Ms. Blogmaster ordered The Harry’s Chicken. It actually came out in a timely manner; the food was warm, properly seasoned… no complaints.

So, Harry’s Seafood-Bar-Grille; You get my seal of approval again. I will now officially insist that my friends and readers head out to their local Harry’s (namely the one in Tallahassee) to check them out, enjoy their food and say “The Blogmaster sent you”. I doubt anything will happen, I’m just curious to see what would happen.

Speaking of code words… If you say ” Menu in Production” at One Fresh Stir-Fry, you will get a free veggie with your order.¬†

Sometime this week, there will be a colla-blog on a very interesting topic. Keep your eyes peeled for it.

Graduation is officially 6 weeks away. Just gotta pass those classes

Monday the 13th

*dodges the black cat *

Alright everyone, it’s my 13th Monday Post.¬†

** Update: If you go to OneFresh this week, get a free drink when you say¬†“this¬†ain’t fast food.” ¬†**¬†

As usual, here’s what you might have missed from Last Monday:

I warned the masses about a email hoax.

A pizza party that was broken up.

The temptation to go toe to toe with Madea.

Finally, I made a stand against the Facebook 25. (which is NOT to be confused with the “Freshman 15” )

Friday Night was the start of the “Sleepout for the Homeless” event on campus. Every year, Phi Beta Sigma fraternity throws an event where a bunch of students brave the cold, donate non-perishable food and¬†clothing to those less fortunate, and overall have a great time throughout the night.

Somehow… Every year, this event is held on one of the colder nights of the year. This year, no one seemed to mind that much. Everyone was jumping rope, and dancing, and just having an all-around good time. ¬†I had originally planned that THIS was the year I was going to stay all night…

Yeah, I left at 2am. I actually ran into some Psiettes at the event, and I hung out with them for about an hour or so.

Kollage Dance Troupe performed,  some spoken word, a performance by the Black Actors Guild.

Couple things I did notice while I was out there in the cold:

  • The only time a guy should dance to this song is… Never actually.¬†
  • That SOMEONE should get a good copy of this song. I’m tired of EVERYONE’s copy pausing at the SAME time.
  • When are the Practice sessions for all these dances? how is it that EVERYONE is dancing to these songs ???¬†
  • Why are people running around on campus at night yelling about the Stimulus package???¬†

All in all, this year’s event was one of the best I’ve been to. They served pizza this year (twice) and it just felt like better planning.

In other blog news, I’ve decided to shelf the Facebook status idea. It’s not as popular as I thought it would be.

I’ve also started playing Afro Samurai this weekend. Keep an eye out for my review.¬†

Valentine’s Day is coming this weekend. Do you have plans for your significant other?

flowers? candy? teddy bears?

What are your plans? I’d love to hear about them (within reason. I’m looking at you, CBK)¬†

My plans? I’ve got none. yup. none.

This year, Mrs. Blogmaster is in charge of the Hallmark Holiday. I’m taking a page out of Usher’s Book this year; (NSFW) besides, I need time to recharge my creative batteries.

I would also like to take this time to let everyone know (specifically men) that if you are planning to take this route use this gift, there are a few requirements:

  1. You discuss this IN ADVANCE with your significant other. It would be very embarrassing if you both had the thought that the OTHER had plans…¬†
  2. You actually did something significant for the first couple of Valentine’s Days. A card and/or a box of chocolate do NOT count as “significant”
  3. You come up with something phenomenal the following Valentine’s (or which ever you are next “responsible” for)¬†
  4. Even though I alluded to this in requirement 2, I am going to officially say it now: This canNOT be the FIRST valentine’s day you are celebrating with your significant other.¬†

The ¬†opportunity gift of a “Sadie Hawkins Valentine’s Day” is a rare, and most precious ¬†opportunity. DON’T try to over use it. Unless, your Significant Other doesn’t care about Valentine’s Day… in that case, you’re off the hook.

January 26, 2009

Good Morning !!!

It’s the beginning of a new week. I was a little under the weather last week, but this morning I woke up and I’m about 85% healthy ūüôā¬†

Unfortunately, our National Championship was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, but that means it should be going down THIS Friday at 8pm (I hope)

Valentine’s Day is around the corner… What do you have planned? This year, I have nothing planned as Ms. Blogmaster is in charge of festivities this year (I hope)

Here’s what you might have missed from last week:

I introduced a new guest blogger who will be contributing to a new series we’re starting on the blog. who also happens to have her own blog. one on which I will occasionally blog on (+5 cross promotion !!!) Word of warning: her site is a little NSFW. you have been warned.

I also was made fun of pointed to my new favorite Internet Game.

I realized McDonald’s REALLY likes to waste money, and play with the emotions of those who are Thermodynamically Challenged.¬†

Momma Blogmaster had a breakthrough in excel !

Saturday was “Greek Wars: Battle of the Gods” (Extrav 09) where a new King and Queen was Crowned. (this post was pretty long)

This week, get a Free Drink from my Favorite Restaurant when you tell them who told you about them. I dunno if I’ll get anything if you say a blog sent you… but it’s worth a shot. If you haven’t eaten from them before, this week would be a great week to start, the food is pretty quick, the prices are fair. (yes, i can text you the directions)¬†

There’s a website that a friend of mine has made. I had a sneak peek at it a while back, and now i can tell you all to check it out. ¬†It’s called Live Liberty.com It’s more than a political website; I’ll do a full run through and hopefully an interview with one of the creators soon. In the mean time, check it out !!!¬†

That’s all I have for today, because you have a lot to catch up on. Enjoy your week, and as always thanks for the support ūüôā
