August 31, 2009

Hey Everybody.

I’m not all the way back to blogging on a regular schedule yet, but I’m getting there.

not too much to report right now other than one of my favorite Game Franchises God of War will be releasing a collection that will have a remastered in HD, Trophy-enabled version of the first two games of this series. The game will sell for $40 this Holiday season, and I’m really thinking of buying it, even though I have WORKING copies of them for the PS2.

Yes, they work with my PS3, because I was smart impatient enough to get one of the Backward-Compatible models when they first released. Oh, I did a Mini-article over at Platform Nation to spread the news to the gaming world. I’m still having fun writing for those guys, I just need to start looking for articles/game review opportunities so I can continue to get my name out there.

The True Blood Season Finale will be on September 13, 2009 @ 9pm. They are going to give everyone a chance to get caught up with the last 3 episodes September 6,2009. From the previews, this season finale is going to be epic !!!

I noticed that MellownMighty has made a small return to the blogging world, go check out her site.

This week get a free side salad from OneFresh Stir-Fry when you say “Listen or Loose”. There’s a story behind it…

College Football Season, is around the corner. This will be the first time in 3-4 years where I won’t be getting up @ 7am to work for the G&G crew (love the new web site guys !!!)  I miss them already; I might have to make a special appearance during a game day just to cheer them on.

I want to take this time to ask all of you out there to send a special prayer out to the family of my Fairy DogMother. She’s going through some things with her family, and can use all the prayers she can get.

That’s about it for now guys… Until next time !!!

May 4, 2009

*I would like to officially apologize for having the blog post so late into the day. I had a meeting about my financial future, then I went to go see a movie. *

Thanks to Disney for that mini history lesson about this traditional song. This is the first Monday of being a graduate of THE Florida State University. My heart and mind has pretty much went on vacation from all of the “events” of the past 2 weeks. Here’s what you might have missed since last week:

The rest of the week was filled with me studying and taking finals. Hopefully, I did well enough to NOT take classes over the summer !!! Graduation itself was quite the event, and it wasn’t without it’s blog worthy moments. I intentionally planned on giving graduation it’s own special post… but then I decided to give everyone a lot to read today !!!

My parents came into town for this big event. The first big event was my mom’s discovery of my new potential merger (kudos to everyone who figured it out, and “better luck next time” for those who didn’t ). That in itself took a good 15 minutes; but when Mom found out… she was mappy (mad + happy after a Fusion Dance)  and she didn’t want to speak to anyone because of the secrecy… Dad knew also, and said nothing, but that’s besides the point. Saturday Morning, we attempted to show them the new Blogmaster lair, but unfortunately, there were no available models. We then went to the Graduation Ceremony; if you weren’t there, or didn’t see it here, let me summarize it for you 🙂

My feet had no choice but to get comfortable.

My feet had no choice but to get comfortable.

As I sat in my chair and waited for the Doctoral students to march in, I started to notice it was an unbearably long line. Personally, I’m all for success and accolades of fellow students, but can we move this along please??? I also noticed that T.K Wetherall was unable to speak this afternoon. for some reason… his words didn’t quite come out correctly. You can tell my family was from the Caribbean since they didn’t laugh at ANY of the Florida State Jokes. I can tell they weren’t laughing because I was able to see them from my sit… they were right in front of me. Do you KNOW what it’s like to have the family NOT laughing at the school jokes? I think I’m going to have Bobby drop by and visit them…

I know my parents were happy that I was finally graduating, but I’m sure they would have liked if I stood during the announcements of degrees with distinction, but B’s & C’s get degrees is all I have to say about that !!! This was supposed to be filed under graduation mobile moments, but I was really unhappy with my cap not fitting me. Somehow they gave me the wrong size !!! I was able to switch a really good friend, and although some relief was provided, the cap was STILL too small.

My eye was  constantly attacked by the tassel. Even after I switched the tassel to the other side… the tassel was relentless !!!

Coolest part of the ceremony? the speaker timed himself. He promised he wouldn’t take more than 15 minutes, and as a man of his word; he did.

Quote to take home: “Love will not buy your son the GI Joe with the Kung-Fu grip.”

The Swine flu scare has made it’s way to Town: there are hand sanitizers on the way up to shaking the hands of the dean  and president. ( FAMU had an even bigger scare; they were handing out masks, and pretty much no one shook hands as they crossed the stage)

After watching this whole ceremony I have decided that if and when I go back for another Degree, I shall have them call me D. Blogmaster. As I cross the stage, I shall do what ever dance is out at that time. I think they owe me for BUTCHERING my name .  (p.s. ma’am… GET YOUR CHILD)

April 27, 2009

It’s another Monday… *yawn* forgive me, it’s been an interesting weekend.

OneFresh Stirfry Password: get a surprise when you say “New Menu” I don’t know what it is… but if you find out before me, let me know.

time for a countdown recap:

  • 3 weeks and 2 days until my birthday
  • 2 weeks and 5 days until free rib day (remember first 100)
  • 5, 5 days, 5 days until graduation !!!

Everything else has happened already:

  • The Graduation party was a success. Lots of people were in the place, and we had a great time. However, I will have to learn to plan better for my next party. More food, and maybe a better time frame will help… I had people strolling in around 11 even though the party died down around 10… A special thank you to everyone that did get there on time (even though I and Ms. Blogmaster was late)
  • Classes being over is such an amazing feeling. when FINALS are over (this Friday) I might do a cartwheel or 2.
  • Being away from the office for 3 weeks is a blessing and a curse. Yes, that is 3 weeks I’m not making money, but that is 3 weeks away from the mother hens. We needed some time apart !!!

Things that happened last week:

On my Facebook Status I have the following-

D. Blogmaster Sums up last night’s party as such: My friends were able to come through and Everyone enjoyed themselves. Ra’Jon makes great drinks and there was a Great cake from Publix. I’ve learned that Entertaining guest requires a little more planning and YOU need to Read my blog later today/tomorrow for more details

Let's play a game

Let's play a game

Somewhere in that message is the password. There are a few rules you will need to keep in mind to go forward:

  1. Start after the colon
  2. Letters will be lost. YOUr mind must be sacrificed to truly understand.
  3. The answer must be entered in lower-cased letters for entrance
  4. The password is a real “dictionarilized” word. (Thanks to Peach Cleaves for the proper term)
  5. I will not distribute any hints.
  6. Have fun.

I’ve actually decided to keep it locked for 2 weeks. I am well aware that it’s finals week for a lot of students and you don’t want to “Waste” any brainpower on something that won’t result in a grade for a class. This is meant to be just a fun pastime. If for some reason you really can’t figure it out and REALLY can’t wait; send me an e-mail. Dtownsend23blog@gmail.com

March 16, 2009

Well, I’m back from Spring Break !!!

Not that I really DID anything… but I’m back 🙂 *Lyrically, NSFW*

How was your Spring Break?

Here’s what you may have missed last week:

  • Ms. Blogmaster finally joined the facebook cult community. Speaking of which, Facebook received ANOTHER graphical update. Personally, I’m all for staying on the cutting edge… but come on, slow it down a little please? and shouts out to Oprah Winfrey, who I know will be my friend for REAL (on facebook) and not just me being a fan of her show (not that I’m really a fan… but I was under the impression this was how she and I could be friends)
  • I’ve been offered an interesting opportunity.

Honestly, I spent most of my spring break playing video games. New Season of NCAA football started. ECU lost to Illinois 24-0, and Cal lost to USF 24-11. This week; ECU plays USF in a battle of those seeking their first win; USF faces UCF in “The Battle of I-4“, and Illinois battles Louisiana Tech.

Als0 this week, I get to meet Salt’s Boyfriend… Over-protective brother suit- power extreme !!! (Flashback intro)

I’m not going to cause problems, but I will ask many questions. I will have my eye on you, sir.

OH !!!

As I mentioned at the end of last week’s blog, I told you about a new blog that has emerged from one of the twisted minds in my inner circle: A Blind Mind. Last week, he posted an opinion on the double standard in our society dealing with promiscuity. I suggest you check it out, It’s NSFW, but honestly, which of my friends really are ???

**Guilty Pleasure alert**

So many moons ago, there was a Online Soap Opera err, Weekly-Updated story line revolving college students (many of who belong to a NPHC organization) at a fictitious HBCU. All of a sudden, they stopped the updates. Sad, I found other things to pass the time. It was brought to my attention that not only is the series back, but with a new spinoff. It is known as “As The Sands Burn” or ATSB for short. According to the website, they update every Thursday, we’ll see; but for now, go get caught up and enjoy.  If you want the original series: go here.  I know the setup is really confusing but remember this order: 3,4,7,2,1 That should be the order in which you visit those links. I suggest you bookmark it. I’d like to interview the Creator (and new author) but i’m still new in the blog world.

**End Guilty Pleasure**

Soo… We went to Harry’s This weekend. As many of you may have remembered, I didn’t have a great experience last time. I sent them a “Letter of concern”  and they sent me some gift cards. Since I like discounts, I couldn’t help but give them another chance.

Honestly?

They did their job quite well. I don’t know WHAT happened to them after I sent the letter, but they seemed to have undergone some renovations. As soon as I stepped in, I was greeted by both hostesses, and they were very nice, and we were seated pretty quickly. Our server was actually pretty nice; very courteous, and checked on us just enough so it wasn’t creepy. I think the manager stopped by our table about twice to check up on us to make sure our food was good.

The food was good; I ordered the Salmon, and Ms. Blogmaster ordered The Harry’s Chicken. It actually came out in a timely manner; the food was warm, properly seasoned… no complaints.

So, Harry’s Seafood-Bar-Grille; You get my seal of approval again. I will now officially insist that my friends and readers head out to their local Harry’s (namely the one in Tallahassee) to check them out, enjoy their food and say “The Blogmaster sent you”. I doubt anything will happen, I’m just curious to see what would happen.

Speaking of code words… If you say ” Menu in Production” at One Fresh Stir-Fry, you will get a free veggie with your order.

Sometime this week, there will be a colla-blog on a very interesting topic. Keep your eyes peeled for it.

Graduation is officially 6 weeks away. Just gotta pass those classes
