Facebook Stalking upgrade

June 9, 2009

I’m not sure how many of my Facebook friends/fans know, but Facebook is making it easier to find people from the Internet. It’s like they are slowly becoming the next Myspace !!!

Whatever happened to the GOOD old days where facebook was around just for college students. Then Teachers started getting in on facebook, then strangers, and now Oprah is even on Facebook.

WTF????? (where’s the fence if you’re wondering…)

To add insult to injury, facebook is now giving users the “option” of having a username instead of the random numbers that usually follows “www.facebook.com/” check out the story and judge for yourself.

I understand that they want to make it “easier” for friends and loved ones to find you, but here’s the thing: all of my friends and family that is ON facebook and wants to find me, already did. If they haven’t found me by now, it’s probably for the better. Besides, how much more information can we make readily available for future employers ???

I’m not here bashing on forward progress: I have a degree in Information Technology, I BREATHE innovation, I’m always looking for what’s new in the world of technology. However, I draw the line at making it easier for “anyone” to find me online that I don’t want to find me.

What do you think? does Facebook have the right idea? or are they making it easier for stalkers to find new people to stalk? comment on it, and let’s talk about this.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to take a quiz to find out “which 80s/90s cartoon character” I am

So, as many of you know… the new season of College Hill started Last night. College hill is the B.E.T. version of “Real World”; but with “more”

last night it was more drama. during the “introduction” there was a student who attends FAMU who fired off the first shot. I’m not going to get into the details of what happened ( you more than likely watched)

Long story short, a person’s sexuality was called out with a sling shot, and to which he replied with an atomic bomb. It was interesting because the facebook community exploded !!! it seemed like the majority of the facebookers were “proud” that he “represented” their school and “stood up” for himself.

Is that how you want the world to think of Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University ? (Yes, the ENTIRE name was needed) I mean I’m all for famous alumni… but how do you go from the school who performs with prince at the super bowl, to the school of a producer of “Stomp the yard“, to the school of the “fierce” guy who called out the “pageant princess” on the boat on College Hill.

Some people say he was defending himself and his sexuality, some people liked it because he had “flair”. I guess.

I’m not saying a person doesn’t have the right to defend themselves when they feel wronged/offended; but it’s like he took out a Sledgehammer to deal with some ants.

Oh, and what’s REALLY good with B.E.T. having the cast getting into all types of looseness on the first night???

“Let’s give these college kids some chocolate, strawberries, handcuffs, and whipped cream and see what happens” I bet you this was “his” idea with his “Harvard Humor” (both of these links are extra NSFW)

Ms. “I have a boyfriend” we do NOT approve. You wouldn’t do this on a normal basis, why does the presence of a  camera make it OK ? we all know that if the roles were reversed, you would be ready to break up with your bf and calling him all types of “dog” and “no good”. Don’t be a hypocrite; and yes, you could have politely declined… or act like “Mr. Famu” from earlier that day; it seemed like a good day to shout and yell.

Ms. “I get jealous after meeting you for one night” what is your deal??? you’ve known him less than 24 hours and you’re already ironing his clothes and making his bed? what part of the game is that? and what’s the result? your “boo” comes home and doesn’t even acknowledge you. I do respect you for realizing that you’re a naive person and realize that you’re too trusting of people. kudos to you why is it as soon as I give you kudos, you had to get on the phone with your mom and get ready to burn the place down? *sighs*

How do you feel about last night’s season premiere ?

I wanted to post a bunch of video clips… but the YouTubers weren’t on their job

Childhood Memories or Company Milkers ?

Power Rangers

Street Fighter

Mega Man

What do these things have in common? Besides being from Japan.

Give up?

they have been around for what seems like forever, and their respective companies won’t let them go.

*you see my chest !!!*

*clears throat* Like I was saying…

Some of them deserve to keep going

some, not so much

I had a conversation with someone earlier today, and the question that was hard to answer was  “Why?”

Why were these brands still alive

I did some looking around on Wikipedia research. Here’s what I found:

  • Power Rangers has been running in America since 1993.
  • Pokemon hit America in 1996.
  • Street Fighter II was released in 1992.
  • Mega Man was released in 1987.

These brands have been around for at least a decade !!! (it’s been 13 years for Pokemon). It’s funny because somehow these 4 brands have been able to get milked by their companies reinvent themselves to still be around.

*Yes, I’m aware that there are other brands out there that have been around for who knows how long, but this isn’t about them. *

We know one company had counting problems… (I’m looking at you Capcom)

the other was able to recycle things every couple season… (Bandai/Fox/Disney)

and the last company… Just kept making things up, and was able to keep printing their own money (Nintendo

As we get older, we notice these things and usually leave them alone; but our little brothers and sisters who were too young to hang out with us are just now catching these things, and that’s how these companies can keep these gravy trains running.

What do you think? should these keep going? I dunno about you, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to see

“Ultra-Hyper-Mega-Unbelievably Long title- Super Street Fighter 7 Amazing final director’s edition”

or ANY more Power Rangers…

or Pokemon 1,001.

What other brands can you think of that’s been around forever and need to give it a rest?

Facebook 25

February 8, 2009

It’s been all over facebook for over a week now.

I’ve read a couple articles about this.

It’s time I address this new blast from the past. It seems like the new thing to do is to post 25 random facts about yourself and then tag 25 of your friends (1 of which has to be whoever tagged you to do this task).

I’m not sure what to make of this new phenomenon honestly. I will admit that the random things people put are VERY entertaining.

I gave this quite a bit of thought. When I saw the first couple lists pop up, I thought maybe I would give it a go. However, as more and more people started doing it, the more and more I decided.

I have personally decided that I will NOT be posting 25 random facts about myself. I have decided to take this stand because I don’t want to become another statistic. Also, I refuse to pick 25 people; Not to mention I’m obligated to tag everyone that’s already tagged me. (6 as of Sunday 9:30pm)

I will admit that these facts are entertaining at the very least.

People admitting to loving certain smells (crayons, gasoline, heaters ??? )

People who are shopaholics (a few of those)

People with multiple parents (literally, and figuratively)

People even admitting to their deepest fears

People hiding cryptic (and sometimes not so cryptic) messages for specific people. (those are the most fun)

I sometimes wonder how much time people put into these lists. I’d imagine some people take a few minutes, some a few days… I actually heard read that one person took an entire WEEK to compile their list.

Why are people so willing to provide the Internet with anywhere from the frivolously random, to the absolute soul-bearing?

It’s not the anonymity, because usually most of your friends and schoolmates can read these.

Is it E-therapy?

A fad?

Just for a laugh? Only time will tell.

What about the people who DIDN’T get tagged by their friends? not gonna lie, a couple of my friends didn’t tag me in their lists, and for some reason, for 4 and 3/4 seconds (jump to about 2:40 into the video), I was jealous. I’m not sure though, it’s like I was left out of their life. One person told me they didn’t tag me because of all the mutual friends they tagged, I’d read it eventually (I’m looking at you Ms. Fish)

What about you? do you think it’s a fad?  Have you done your 25 yet? feel free to post one or two of yours here. Just not all 25, please.

** Seriously, I didn’t nor will I be making a 25 things to know about me, sorry **

Mobile moment 5

OK so “no racism” but I was shocked to see a white guy in my barbers chair when I arrived. I wasn’t mad or anything, I was just “surprised”

I guess with a new president, new walls are being broken down.
Maybe I should check out the barbershop by my job… you know, the one with the guy who has Popsicles in his basement? (slightly nsfw)

OK, it’s 2009, can we cut THIS out, please???

So, I’m hanging out at my house… and I hear a party at the lake pond…

Looks like someone has a new line.  (just kidding, please no hate mail.)

Alright, I’m not “Greek” and I may not understand how “greek” things work, but…

If you play the “diss stroll” anthem at your event, shouldn’t there be multiple organizations there ?  (not even sure why I couldn’t find that link here, but that’s for another blog)

Also, if you play the “unity stroll” anthem… again, multiple organizations please?

I’m just saying…
