Late “Day of Birth” Gift

May 28, 2009

So I was supposed to do this story around my birthday… There was even an elaborate plot and story I had for this occasion; but someone insisted on taking her time entering the world… kids.

Well, a really good friend and avid reader of this blog gave birth to a beautiful baby girl  @ 7:50 pm. I must say that we three kings 4 kings and queens had amazing timing. As we arrived at 7:53pm we hear the baby crying for the first time: Talk about great timing !

This baby, this baby right here? this baby has a great set of lungs!

Really good lungs…

As we sit in the family waiting room, I’m hearing from one of the family members that the doctor walked in AFTER the baby was born… I wonder if the doctor still gets paid… probably.

I must say it was a little awkward sitting  in the waiting room with her family; I mean I can’t really describe myself as her blogmaster friend who came to do a play-by-play story of her birth…

Swine flu story of the day: a customer gets a refund at Publix because the cashier coughed on her merchandise…

As we continue to hang out in the waiting room, the family starts telling random stories to pass the time; apparently, the new mom was bald until she was 2…  I didn’t want to put this in new mom, but the public has a right to know…

I wonder how people will be in the waiting room when Mrs. Blogmaster and I are ready to introduce our first mini-blogger to the world. I’ve decided I’m going to need a blogger or two on location for us. I’m still trying to figure out how I’ll be able to blog and be supportive husband/coach in the delivery room…

It’s 806 and we’re waiting on an official word from the medical team.

It’s 823, the parents are good, mom is tired and needs real food… Jello, broth and juice? Seriously???

We are still waiting on medical staff for an official weigh in. Mom gets her food minutes later everything she requested… Cheese burger and all. The baby is already giving mom the side-eye for her cheese burger… Kids.

Mother and Child together for their first meal.

Mother and Child together for their first meal.

As I stood their watching this miracle of life I noticed something: The Grand-Parents are unbelievably selfish… They all seem pretty territorial, trying to decide who holds the baby, and forcing poses and multiple pictures… Be careful new parents; I smell treachery afoot with the old regime.

Quit pestering the new parents ! They’ve been through quite a bit today… let them enjoy their day. You only get one “first birth” I understand everyone is excited by the new birth; and their “first birth” might not have been as nice… but that doesn’t give you the right to try to rain on their parade. That’s all I say about that.

The baby's first recorded "Side-Eye" after hearing enough from the grandparents.

So the fairy dog-mother and Mrs blogmaster got to hold the baby… No one thought to pass the baby to me OR to the fairy dog-father… why?

Did it occur to anyone that maybe I wanted to hold the baby?

Is it because I’m a guy ???

Sexist jerks.

The phone conversations and interviews start at 9pm….

I was finally able to get a chance to hold the beautiful baby girl who weighs in at 7lbs 5oz. and is 20.5″.

First picture of the happy family.

I managed to look into the baby’s eyes and promised her a Steak and Lobster dinner when she turned 5, and everyone laughed; they’ll learn.

I would like to take this time to address everyone on facebook who thought that this child was mine. Shame on each and every one of you… you REALLY think I wouldn’t have been blogging about this before tonight? This really showed me how much people really know me. All of my friends who speak to me on a regular basis did not fall for this trick; and I want to thank all of you for taking the time to be my friend. Everyone else, step your game up; behavior like this doesn’t get you invitations to the wedding…

I was able to do a little self-reflecting. It made me realize that even though I helped raised eight siblings, there’s nothing like having your own bundle of joy for that first time in your arms. In a few years, that’s gonna be Mrs. Blogmaster and I looking exhausted and happy and telling our parents to stop trying to take credit for our kid “We didn’t have a baby, I had a baby” truer words never spoken new mom.

Finally, I want to congratulate new mom and new dad for one of their finest achievements to date. I already know that child will be surrounded with love and support (and hopefully a PS3 controller in her hand)

Monday 24

April 27, 2009

It’s another Monday… *yawn* forgive me, it’s been an interesting weekend.

OneFresh Stirfry Password: get a surprise when you say “New Menu” I don’t know what it is… but if you find out before me, let me know.

time for a countdown recap:

  • 3 weeks and 2 days until my birthday
  • 2 weeks and 5 days until free rib day (remember first 100)
  • 5, 5 days, 5 days until graduation !!!

Everything else has happened already:

  • The Graduation party was a success. Lots of people were in the place, and we had a great time. However, I will have to learn to plan better for my next party. More food, and maybe a better time frame will help… I had people strolling in around 11 even though the party died down around 10… A special thank you to everyone that did get there on time (even though I and Ms. Blogmaster was late)
  • Classes being over is such an amazing feeling. when FINALS are over (this Friday) I might do a cartwheel or 2.
  • Being away from the office for 3 weeks is a blessing and a curse. Yes, that is 3 weeks I’m not making money, but that is 3 weeks away from the mother hens. We needed some time apart !!!

Things that happened last week:

On my Facebook Status I have the following-

D. Blogmaster Sums up last night’s party as such: My friends were able to come through and Everyone enjoyed themselves. Ra’Jon makes great drinks and there was a Great cake from Publix. I’ve learned that Entertaining guest requires a little more planning and YOU need to Read my blog later today/tomorrow for more details

Let's play a game

Let's play a game

Somewhere in that message is the password. There are a few rules you will need to keep in mind to go forward:

  1. Start after the colon
  2. Letters will be lost. YOUr mind must be sacrificed to truly understand.
  3. The answer must be entered in lower-cased letters for entrance
  4. The password is a real “dictionarilized” word. (Thanks to Peach Cleaves for the proper term)
  5. I will not distribute any hints.
  6. Have fun.

I’ve actually decided to keep it locked for 2 weeks. I am well aware that it’s finals week for a lot of students and you don’t want to “Waste” any brainpower on something that won’t result in a grade for a class. This is meant to be just a fun pastime. If for some reason you really can’t figure it out and REALLY can’t wait; send me an e-mail. Dtownsend23blog@gmail.com

Tweet Tweet?

April 9, 2009

Well, after a short survey I have decided to add this blog to Twitter.

Some of you might be wondering “What is Twitter??? ”

The short answer: it’s the status update from facebook ripped out and made to stand on it’s own 2 feet. it’s sole purpose is to constantly update your life in 140 characters or less. You also connect with friends, families, celebrities to see what they are doing with their lives in 140 characters or less also.

I’m still tip-toeing around the site to figure it out, but so far so good.

I think I might need two twitter accounts: one just for “Me” and one for “the blog”, but I feel as if that will be too much updating to do…

If you want to follow the blog on twitter so you’ll know when there are new posts or random thoughts, just add “@Dtownsend23blog” to your “following” list. Also be careful about who you decide to follow… it looks like there are some crazy people out there…

I added a Twitter widget to the blog… I’m not sure how it works yet, I’ll keep a close eye on it.

Stay Tuned

March 19, 2009

Hey Everybody. I trust everyone has survived St. Patrick’s Day; if not, i’ll speak a little quieter

I know it’s been a few days since I’ve actually updated the blog. I’ve been busy… and trying to stay awake. I don’t think I was ready for school right after spring break.

Before I go any further, I want to give a special shout-out to  “Acoff  Wife” she just sent me a WONDERFUL email with coupons for TGIF… I would like to share the wealth with all my fans. enter your email address in the comments section and I will send you the coupons. In the words of Acoff wife: “Times are hard”

So… to a special little fish, I have an interesting explanation; In the movie Saw 5, Jigsaw makes an interesting statement. He does what he does as a form of Rehabilitation. a sort of shock rehab. So, when a boy loses a woman and he realizes that he really DID lose her for good… they tend to wise up quickly. Unfortunately, Scientist have been unable to determine if these effects are long-term. I’m not going to tell you what you should do… but you already know 😉

**edit ** It has been brought to my attention that my previous explanation is pretty useless for the current situation. So, that statement is for any OTHER woman who might have problems with their ex’s  ** end edit **

If you have been keeping up with my blog, many of you know I’m working on an article for an up-and-coming  magazine. I’ve just about finished my article, and I’ll be sending it to my Editor by Saturday. The magazine is coming April 10, 2009. I will be announcing it and telling all of you to tell your friends to check it out. The more views the magazine receives on it’s first issue, the more people will want a 2nd… which should lead to money for me 🙂 or at least getting my name out there… Graduate, Blogmaster, Writer for a magazine… has a nice Ring to it, doesn’t it?

** Late Update **

The new Chapter/Episode of “As the Sands Burn” are up. go read and let’s discuss.

Something New

March 10, 2009

Well, this is interesting.

Here I am, enjoying the first “official” day of spring break watching this show I tend to watch.  and I get in contact with a good friend on face book who has an offer for me. She knows someone who is making a magazine, and needs writers- she thought of me  🙂

So, it looks like I might become a video game columnist for an up and coming magazine. I can’t really give you much more details, mainly because I don’t have much more details. I promise as SOON as there is a development I will let you know.

For some reason, I’m slightly nervous =/

Monday 17

March 9, 2009

It’s Spring Break !!!

but I’m at work… *sighs*

fortunately, it’s only today and tomorrow. I was originally going to work Wednesday also… but that fell through as soon as I walked in the office. Do you have plans? take lots of pictures for me.

Last week, I only posted on Monday, and Friday. I had a mobile moment, but I didn’t post it fast enough. so here it is:

So I’m in line at the lights place… I happen to see the line diva again; being diva-like as usual…

Someone get this kid!!! I am standing in front of this 7-year old who wants to get “Michelle” shaved into his head.
If his momma has her way, he’d get a Mohawk

Really? I remember getting MY name in my hair when I was younger… But a girls name? Which part of the game is that?

This weekend Season 2 of “The Dynasty” will be starting. It’s not too late to jump in; send me an email.

Cal lost the National Championship by way of a late INT, and they are hungry for revenge. Will they be able to finish the job this year? Will they MAKE it to the big show this year?

ECU won the National Championship, and look to be repeats; Can they pull it off again? or was it a fluke: the pollsters seem to think so by leaving them unranked for the preseason

USF had an undefeated Season and looks to repeat and possibly getting into the National Championship. Can they do it with playing a powerful FSU at home?

Illinois obtained a  new coach during the off-season and will try to become coach of the year; with their extra tough schedule, will they survive?

This year, the 4 coaches have agreed to play each other in a round about playoff situation amongst themselves: If one coach comes through undefeated, his team will deserve to be in the national championship. If everyone loses here and there, there will be QUITE the debate this year.

and Finally… I mentioned Friday about how a friend of mine has joined the blogging world. Today, I would like to officially introduce the world my readers to “A Blind Mind“. Words will not be able to describe the mental ride you all will be in for; just stay tuned and be entertained. I’ll more than likely give summarry wrap ups on what I read over there to remind you all. He’s also been added to my list of blogs to the right so you can find him faster. Enjoy.
