Late “Day of Birth” Gift

May 28, 2009

So I was supposed to do this story around my birthday… There was even an elaborate plot and story I had for this occasion; but someone insisted on taking her time entering the world… kids.

Well, a really good friend and avid reader of this blog gave birth to a beautiful baby girl  @ 7:50 pm. I must say that we three kings 4 kings and queens had amazing timing. As we arrived at 7:53pm we hear the baby crying for the first time: Talk about great timing !

This baby, this baby right here? this baby has a great set of lungs!

Really good lungs…

As we sit in the family waiting room, I’m hearing from one of the family members that the doctor walked in AFTER the baby was born… I wonder if the doctor still gets paid… probably.

I must say it was a little awkward sitting  in the waiting room with her family; I mean I can’t really describe myself as her blogmaster friend who came to do a play-by-play story of her birth…

Swine flu story of the day: a customer gets a refund at Publix because the cashier coughed on her merchandise…

As we continue to hang out in the waiting room, the family starts telling random stories to pass the time; apparently, the new mom was bald until she was 2…  I didn’t want to put this in new mom, but the public has a right to know…

I wonder how people will be in the waiting room when Mrs. Blogmaster and I are ready to introduce our first mini-blogger to the world. I’ve decided I’m going to need a blogger or two on location for us. I’m still trying to figure out how I’ll be able to blog and be supportive husband/coach in the delivery room…

It’s 806 and we’re waiting on an official word from the medical team.

It’s 823, the parents are good, mom is tired and needs real food… Jello, broth and juice? Seriously???

We are still waiting on medical staff for an official weigh in. Mom gets her food minutes later everything she requested… Cheese burger and all. The baby is already giving mom the side-eye for her cheese burger… Kids.

Mother and Child together for their first meal.

Mother and Child together for their first meal.

As I stood their watching this miracle of life I noticed something: The Grand-Parents are unbelievably selfish… They all seem pretty territorial, trying to decide who holds the baby, and forcing poses and multiple pictures… Be careful new parents; I smell treachery afoot with the old regime.

Quit pestering the new parents ! They’ve been through quite a bit today… let them enjoy their day. You only get one “first birth” I understand everyone is excited by the new birth; and their “first birth” might not have been as nice… but that doesn’t give you the right to try to rain on their parade. That’s all I say about that.

The baby's first recorded "Side-Eye" after hearing enough from the grandparents.

The baby's first recorded "Side-Eye" after hearing enough from the grandparents.

So the fairy dog-mother and Mrs blogmaster got to hold the baby… No one thought to pass the baby to me OR to the fairy dog-father… why?

Did it occur to anyone that maybe I wanted to hold the baby?

Is it because I’m a guy ???

Sexist jerks.

The phone conversations and interviews start at 9pm….

I was finally able to get a chance to hold the beautiful baby girl who weighs in at 7lbs 5oz. and is 20.5″.

First picture of the happy family.

First picture of the happy family.

I managed to look into the baby’s eyes and promised her a Steak and Lobster dinner when she turned 5, and everyone laughed; they’ll learn.

Me and the little girl who will have steak and lobster in 5 years

Me and the little girl who will have steak and lobster in 5 years

I would like to take this time to address everyone on facebook who thought that this child was mine. Shame on each and every one of you… you REALLY think I wouldn’t have been blogging about this before tonight? This really showed me how much people really know me. All of my friends who speak to me on a regular basis did not fall for this trick; and I want to thank all of you for taking the time to be my friend. Everyone else, step your game up; behavior like this doesn’t get you invitations to the wedding…

I was able to do a little self-reflecting. It made me realize that even though I helped raised eight siblings, there’s nothing like having your own bundle of joy for that first time in your arms. In a few years, that’s gonna be Mrs. Blogmaster and I looking exhausted and happy and telling our parents to stop trying to take credit for our kid “We didn’t have a baby, I had a baby” truer words never spoken new mom.

Finally, I want to congratulate new mom and new dad for one of their finest achievements to date. I already know that child will be surrounded with love and support (and hopefully a PS3 controller in her hand)

There’s no food like Free food

May 27, 2009

Today, at the office it was decided we would celebrate the May birthday’s at Ruby Tuesday’s. I was happy at first, but then I was like “wait, I don’t have any money for food” and one of the “bosses” told me that I wouldn’t have to pay for my dinner; I then jumped for joy and quickly replied “I guess I shall have the Lobster then !”  they all started laughing. Their mistake.

I came into the office this morning, and I had to check in with my boss to let her know my plans for today. I let her know I intended on having Lobster today. She laughed also; her mistake.

So the “Cool Kids” and I were all excited about getting out the office to eat. The day before we decided we would drive in the “newest” car among us. Some how, the “powers that be” had other plans…

They “decided” that they were going to have the 3 girls drive with my boss, and I would drive with the other 3 bosses… I was NOT going along with that, so I quickly spoke up and told them how we planned on driving together, and how much more sense it would make our way. The boss with the bad news saw the logic, and everyone was happy.

As we got ready to leave my Fairy Dogmother realized that the bosses would try to tail us, or expect us there at a certain time, so as we drove we happened to get “caught” by each of the red lights. It was crazy, there was even one time we had to stop for a “scary yellow light” since our lives were in danger…  not really

As we pulled up, my Fairy Dogmother got a call, it was from her boss asking where were we and if we got stuck in traffic; we were in the parking lot at the time of this call. Overprotective much ???

We get inside, and we’re seated; we look through the menu, and as soon as I open the menu, I was greeted by my lunch for the day. There it was; Lobster Tails and Steak calling me, begging me to choose this plate as my birthday meal. I did feel guilty about it because of the price, but I DID say I was going to get Lobster, and no one objected; their silence meant approval in my book.

“The Cool Girls” also agreed and insisted I get the meal for the sheer comedy of it all. I mean, a “free lunch” is a free lunch, right?

My lunch took the last to arrive out of everyone who was at the event; I told people it was because they were still trying to catch the Lobsters, they all laughed; little did they know how true that statement was.

Yes, it was SO amazing...

Yes, it was SO amazing...

This was the plate that was set before me finally; I know people were watching, and there might have been a case or two of the “Jealousy Virus” but that’s OK, because I had my shots before I left the office.

The “Scout Boss” came over to explain how our meals would be paid for; I continued to eat as I felt her eyes burn holes into my plate. We also knew that she would report back to the other bosses as soon as she got back; and sure enough, she reported back, and I was told that 8 eyes gazed upon me as I enjoyed the lobster tail. The steak was good too, but that LOBSTER TAIL ??? yeah, that much better.

One thing that we noticed was the Office Politics that happened right there in the restaurant. The other group we were out with gave out cards; We got our cards too. The other group gave their employees fun presents, we got Ice Cream since they didn’t bring presents

It's even better when it's free

It's even better when it's free

I doubt this was done on purpose but… My Co-worker who was part of the birthday crew had caramel on her Vanilla Ice Cream. When I started to cry “foul” my fairy Godmother insisted this was part of integration. (OK, I need to either stop using this photo…)

Other than that, it was a great day, We got back and my shift was over in 30 minutes; 20 of them were taken up by amazing cake. It was here that I first heard about “Coke Cake”. now when I first heard Coke Cake from my boss I was a little shocked she would know about that. As the conversation went on I realized they were talking about the OTHER kind of Coke. Yup, I was slightly embarrassed, but laughed it off.

Coke Cake, who knew?

*Editors note*

I want to apologize to all my readers for taking so long with this story. I originally planned on doing this at 4, but that “itis” got me REAL good… I didn’t officially wake up until 5.

(slightly nsfw, jump to 2:10 for an explanation)

Monday 28

May 25, 2009

Good Morning.

First my prayers go out to all of the families of fallen soldiers on this Memorial Day. If you have today off, enjoy it and be thankful for those in your family that are in the military and are still alive. Don’t forget to hit a BBQ or 2 up also !

Things you might have missed since Last Week:

  • Instead of reviewing an Album, I asked my fans for their top 5 rappers. It’s not too late for yours.
  • I talked about my trip across the state to check out a potential city of residence.
  • There was a “Points Scandal” at a local Psiette event that I had to speak about; and my life was threatened at this same event.
  • I talked about all the wonderful things that happened on my Birthday.

You might have missed a few of those topics because the last 3 were all done on Friday. Take the time to go through them and comment. I also wrote two articles for Platform Nation. One article was about Kingdom Hearts for the DS, and the other was for Monster Hunter for the PSP. It is important that you guys not only read the articles and tell your friends about them, but you should definitely leave comments. The more popular articles on the site gets the author more opportunities… so please help your neighborhood blogmaster out.

Wedding Details

Well, as I promised, Today is the day I officially release the wedding date to the public. If you were able to figure it out two weeks ago, congratulations you deserve an extra pat on the back. Everyone else, maybe next time.

As of now, the wedding will be held… in Miami, Fl. We aren’t sure of the colors yet; Actually, I’m not sure if I’m OK with the colors picked out yet, I’m working on it.

We’ve decided we are only inviting 200 people. The Bridesmaids and Maid of Honor have already been picked. I’ve got a best man in mind, but I haven’t officially asked him. I’m still working on Groomsmen…

I’m not sure how we’re only going to select 200 186 people (I forgot to take out the bridal court); which is roughly 93 people each. That’s going to be rough for me especially… I have 8 – 11 siblings depending on who you ask… subtract 2 parents and now I’m down to at most 80 people I can personally invite. I’m going to go ahead and start forming a list of people who want to come… feel free to comment here or send me an email so I can take you into consideration. Unfortunately, there are no automatic bids in this BCS race; I will have to sit down and evaluate everyone fairly.

I guess the last thing for me to mention is the date.

Are you sure you don’t want to go figure it out?

You sure?

I mean, it is RIGHT there at the bottom

Let me just take a moment to thank all the people out there who made this possible… No, i’m just kidding.

The date of this union in matrimony will be September 4, 2010.

** no secrets here**

and that’s all I have for today; I really want to take this time to thank all of my readers new and old. If it wasn’t for you, I don’t think I would have kept this blogging thing up. You people are my motivation (I couldn’t resist, sorry). Keep telling your friends about this site, and as always I’m willing to listen to ideas on how I can improve.

Birthday Blog

May 22, 2009

Well, it’s time to give God thanks for another year of existence. If it wasn’t for him, who knows where I would be.

So, here’s what happened on my Birthday.

As I spoke about earlier this week, I was waiting for word on an opportunity, and I got an email welcoming me and offering me a position as an intern writer for Platform Nation. I have to give them a certain amount of articles a month, I shall do my best. At the time of this article, I have given them a mini-article and it’s pending approval.

I was greeted by this when I arrived at my desk the morning of my birthday.

Happy Birthday to me !!!

Happy Birthday to me !!!

I’m not even gonna lie, I thought it was very nice that one of the big bosses graced my desk with this cheesecake and card. The only downside was worrying about how much I would have to hug that boss =/

*you just missed a hidden message*

afterwards, it was then my “Fairy DogMother” gave me her office gift:

Yes, that is M&M covered Brownies !!!

Yes, that is M&M covered Brownies !!!

However, with great gifts come great responsibilities… I started getting threatening letters for my brownies from various coworkers. How Threatening ? well, after the attacks stopped, I was able to spell this out:

Yes, each of those were thrown in my direction.

Yes, each of those were thrown in my direction.

After receiving all of these, what else COULD I do? I promptly cut the brownies up and they were shared by the young ladies of the office and myself.

After work, we decided we would go to Chili’s for Dinner. It was last minute, so I sent out a few text messages and facebook status updates; I really wasn’t expecting that many people to arrive since it was such last minute, but I was grateful for anyone that would arrive.

At Chili’s a good time was had by all. Well, at least I had a good time 🙂 I even took home a memento to remember the night. I can’t tell you  or show you what it was, just know it was a great keepsake :).

Finally I want to take this time to thank EVERYONE who sent me birthday wishes on facebook, text messages, and phone calls. For everyone that didn’t… I know you were thinking of me and I appreciate the well wishes still.

Oh, and for those wondering; I got a game from Mrs. Blogmaster for my Birthday. Good news she got me  a game; Bad news is she got me a game I didn’t want. at all. It’s alright because I can return the game for the one I DO want when it comes out next week 🙂 Who knows, I might even do a Review on it.

Area unlocked: Jacksonville, FL

May 22, 2009

This post has been a long time coming.

During the middle of last week, I took a trip to Jacksonville, FL

Why ? to see what it was like out there. Well, I went looking for RIBS also…

Seriously, at some point in the near future I we shall be leaving the land of the ‘Noles (and Rattlers) to “seek out new life and new civilizations” (give yourself 5 points if you get the reference) Star Trek

I decided since I had some newly acquired spare time, I would go ahead and check out this place to see what all the fuss was about.

When I actually got there the weather was pretty bad, so I ended up staying in my hotel room the whole night watching the Playoffs. I did manage to sneak out and get some pizza from a place I heard about from my Tour Guide 🙂

The next day, I actually went  out and did some Sight Seeing. I went to a Museum, and took pictures of the wildlife and other. I went ahead and added a photo gallery of all the good shots I took around town. there are mini stories with some of them when you click that specific picture. Enjoy.

I thought I was going to have a drama free trip, but I was wrong. As I walked to the Rib place with my tour guide (who is white, not that it matters to me, but is vital for the story) there was a group of people eating outside of a restaurant and decided to yell “Thank God for Obama” as we walked by. I wasn’t aware ignorance was still alive in the south =/ in Florida no less. When I think “Racist South” Florida doesn’t sit at the top of my list, but that’s just me. This guy disagrees.  (please don’t be offended by the “Racist South link… I couldn’t resist)

My tour guide thinks it was coincidental that the man yelled that as we walked past… but I know better. When your birthday is the Day after Malcolm X’s and the day Florida celebrates “Emancipation Day” your “Racial Senses” tend to tingle more than others…

There is Racism afoot !!!

There is Racism afoot !!!

Finally, I would like to say that I am aware that I did not cover all of Jacksonville. It took close to 3o minutes to get anywhere, and I only had one day to check the city out; but from what I saw, It was nice. Nice enough to maybe move out there; naturally that depends on the economy and job market and all those other important adult things… I think I might need to do a couple more of these “discovery trips” to check out the rest of the state. Any suggestions on where I should visit next?

A special thanks to my Tour Guide for showing me the sights and sounds of Jacksonville. Your services maybe needed on a later date 🙂

Audio Crack 2

May 19, 2009

Tonight, I was SUPPOSED to give my Review for Eminem’s and Busta Rhymes New Albums. I would like to humbly apologize; both Albums need more time in my ears before I give a fair assessment of them.

Instead, I will ask you my readers two interesting questions:

  1. Who are your top 5 MCs ? for now, we’ll stick to those that are alive
  2. Who are your top 5 rappers? and we shall stick to those who are still breathing.

If you are not sure of the difference; that’s OK, there isn’t really a difference. The difference is in the “Flow Style” I went ahead and looked this up on wikipedia, this is what they had to say:

Flow styles

A common way MCs judge how to flow rhythmically in a verse is by stressing syllables in time to the four beats of the musical backdrop[35]. Poetry scholar Derek Attridge describes how this works in his book Poetic Rhythm – “rap lyrics are written to be performed to an accompaniment that emphasizes the metrical structure of the verse”[36]. He says rap lyrics are made up of…

“…lines with four stressed beats, separated by other syllables that may vary in number and may include other stressed syllables. The strong beat of the accompaniment coincides with the stressed beats of the verse, and the rapper organizes the rhythms of the intervening syllables to provide variety and surprise”[37].

MCs also use a lot of different rhyming techniques, including complex rhyme schemes, as Adam Krims points out – “the complexity… involves multiple rhymes in the same rhyme complex (i.e. section with consistently rhyming words), internal rhymes, [and] offbeat rhymes”[38]. There is also widespread use of multisyllabic rhymes, by artists such as Kool G Rap[39]Big Daddy Kane[40], and Eminem [41].

There are many different styles of flow, with different terminology used by different people – of Dead Prez uses the following terms –

Alternatively, music scholar Adam Krims uses the following terms –

OK, now that you have a quick lesson on how this “Rap Game”  works, please answer in the Comments section. Please feel free to respectfully debate the views of others, but let’s not turn this into E-Beef.

Monday 27 *updated*

May 18, 2009

It’s the Monday before my Birthday.

Here’s what you might have missed since last week:

That was about it. There should be tons more but alas, I’m not allowed to do much from my computer at work… M. Bison and co. forbids it.

I should take this time to mention that if you missed the “Big News” in my blog from Last Monday, I strongly suggest you reread it. I’ve heard some people say the secret was easy to find, some people say it was way too hard, and some people still can’t find it…

There will be times where I will hide things in my blog. I do it for fun, and I do it to give you something to do other than skim through it. If you still haven’t figured out the big secret; I’ll formally announce it Next Monday.

For some reason, Our Desktop has stopped working. Of course by “ours” I mean Mrs. Blogmasters. She has no idea what she’s done to it, or what she “didn’t do” she just knows it isn’t working. I gave it a pretty thorough examination; I don’t like what I need to do to fix it, but I’m out of ideas.

I’m currently waiting to hear about a possible opportunity to be a “Intern Blogger” for a video game website. I was hanging out on Twitter one day when I heard about this opportunity. I took the necessary steps, and hopefully I’ll get chosen. Even if I don’t, I’m glad that I’ve given it a chance.

Things to look forward to this week (hopefully):

  • My travels across the state
  • Audio Crack featuring Eminem’s New album
  • An official “Birthday Blog”
  • My first week back to work. (by suggestion of Mrs. Blogmaster)

And that is all I have for this week; For now at least. I’ll try to sneak in the “One Fresh Stir-Fry” Password of the week later on today.

** This Just in **

Say “Quesadilla my way” @ One Fresh Stir-Fry this week for a free topping. I don’t think I need to remind you all, but this place is a GREAT place to eat; So great a place that they don’t even know that I’m giving them free publicity !!!

A special “Sak Passee to all of my Favorite Haitians as today is “Haitian Flag day
