Hey everyone its Ala81 back at you after a week off. Sorry about no post last week but USF had a bye and I was a little discouraged after my star running back was injured for 7 weeks. But we are back, and snagged 2 new recruits, a 4 star rb and a 3 star wr, the offense for next year should just reload with new talent. On to this weeks game, we head up to West Virginia to play the Mountaineers. WVU is 5-6 this year and I’m picked by Corso and Herbstreit to win, finally a little respect. Well, the game wasn’t even close, we dominate from the opening kick off and are leading 35-3 at half time. The beat down continues in the second half and the game ends 77-10. Offensively we did whatever we wanted, scoring on every single possession; that’s right no punts, no turnovers. We also set 4 school records on offense, Matt Grothe set the school record for passing yards in a game, AJ Love passed Mike Ford’s total and set the record for receiving yards in a season, but Carlton Mitchell took the cake by passing AJ Love’s total and set the school records for both receiving yards in a season and receiving yards in a game. Defensively we were helped out by the fact that both Pat White and Noel Devine, WVU’s starting QB and RB respectively, were out injured, but with the exception of one play the defense did a great job. Overall, a pretty dominate win hope we can overtake ECU and maybe Cal and try for a shot at the National Title.
Matt Grothe, QB: He was a beast, 23-25 for 445 yards and 4 tds. He also ran for 22 yards and 3 tds. That is correct a 7 td performance with no turnovers.
Benjamin Williams, RB: The replacement for Mike Ford had the best game by a RB for me all year. He ran 9 times for 199 yards and 3 tds, he also caught 5 passes for 124 yards and 1 td. He’s 5’7″ but 200 pounds which makes him hard to bring down, due to his low center of gravity (just like a friend and co-worker of mine) and he’s a little faster than Ford is. Not a bad day for the senior.
AJ Love, WR: 8 catches for 114 yards and 1 td.
Carlton Mitchell, WR: 7 catches for 151 yards and 1 td. These two WR are both sophomores and both have beat the school record for receiving yards in a season, Big East secondaries you are on notice.
Defense: Did just what I needed them to. We bent at times but broke only once. We are getting better and seem to be hitting our stride at just the right time.
