Hey everyone Ala81 here with your #22 ranked (#19 BCS) USF Bulls update. Week 9 sees up travelling to face off against an undefeated and #25 nationally ranked Louisville Cardinal team. Not exactly what I was hoping for but a great chance to show off for the voter and try to move up in the polls, who are showing us no love. Well, my game started off much like Dtownsend23’s where everything was clicking. We are up 28-7 at the half and Matt Grothe is 12-13 for 250 yards, 4 tds and his only incompletion was an int in the endzone that would have been a touchdown. The defense steps up in the first half and grabs 2 ints and stifles the Cardinals until their last possession. Then, I must have fallen asleep at the controller. We come out in the second half and forget how to play defense, they end up with 323 yards through the air, and apparently I also forget how to call plays. The idea was to run out the clock and pad my Heisman hopeful running back’s stats. But the reality was that their run defense was better than their pass defense and I end up punting a couple of time and being in long 3rd downs. So in the end the game was much closer than it should have been. But a win against a ranked opponent on the road, especially in a conference game is nothing to take for granted. Here’s to a better week next week.
Matt Grothe, QB: 14-15 for 269 yards, 4 tds and 1 int. Great game today, I shouldn’t have stopped throwing it all over the field with him.
Mike Ford, RB: 7 rushing attempts for 32 yards and a td, he caught 3 passes for 89 yards and 2 tds. Overall, not a bad game I’d still like to see him run more.
AJ Love, WR: 5 receptions for 109 yards and a td, another great game by the very talented sophomore.
