Monday 31 *updated*

June 15, 2009

Shout out to my friend Cedric Nabe for running the 100m in 10.28 seconds. Yeah, he pretty much embarrassed the rest of his heat… Here’s hoping he keeps doing big things on the Track. Maybe he can be the next Seminole to run in the Olympics.

I really need to start posting more often. I blame it on summer (the season, not the friend)

Here’s what I spoke about since last you know what? The only thing I spoke about was the new “facebook vanity url” thing they have which is going to make it easier for stalkers to find you.

The new season of True Blood started last night. I thought about giving it it’s own post, but I would much rather put it here. The new season picked up right where the last one left off, answered a couple questions from the ending of Season 1, all while opening new questions. I have a feeeling this is going to be a great season. Stay tuned. I thought about giving a synopsis of last night, but I know there are people who didn’t get to see it last night; so no spoilers from me.

I wrote another review for Platform Nation. This time it was for their new puzzle game known as “Trash Panic“, check it out and as always leave a comment if you can. don’t be afraid to ask questions, that’s the only way I can get better.

There are no wedding updates this week. Everything is still moving according to plan though. This list isn’t getting any easier… I plan to have my list “ready” before July.

I decided to try something new for the summer; I’m going to start a series of blogs called “Places I should be”  What I need from you the reader is to send me a couple pictures and 50 words on why I should be where you are (provided you aren’t where I am) and what’s so great about that place. If you happen to be in the same place I am, feel free to use your hometown (unless it’s where we are now, then use somewhere you’ve been that you really enjoyed)  As always, send it to my email: dtownsend23blog@gmail.com so I can start working on it. I’ve got one so far, and I must say, I like it.

Facebook Stalking upgrade

June 9, 2009

I’m not sure how many of my Facebook friends/fans know, but Facebook is making it easier to find people from the Internet. It’s like they are slowly becoming the next Myspace !!!

Whatever happened to the GOOD old days where facebook was around just for college students. Then Teachers started getting in on facebook, then strangers, and now Oprah is even on Facebook.

WTF????? (where’s the fence if you’re wondering…)

To add insult to injury, facebook is now giving users the “option” of having a username instead of the random numbers that usually follows “www.facebook.com/” check out the story and judge for yourself.

I understand that they want to make it “easier” for friends and loved ones to find you, but here’s the thing: all of my friends and family that is ON facebook and wants to find me, already did. If they haven’t found me by now, it’s probably for the better. Besides, how much more information can we make readily available for future employers ???

I’m not here bashing on forward progress: I have a degree in Information Technology, I BREATHE innovation, I’m always looking for what’s new in the world of technology. However, I draw the line at making it easier for “anyone” to find me online that I don’t want to find me.

What do you think? does Facebook have the right idea? or are they making it easier for stalkers to find new people to stalk? comment on it, and let’s talk about this.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to take a quiz to find out “which 80s/90s cartoon character” I am

March 2, 2009

Good Morning ! (RIP)

That’s the feeling I had when I came into work today. I think something about M.Bison on personal time just put me in high spirits today. I think it’s going to be the start of a wonderful week. My sister (Pepper) is turning 20 this week; I’m sure she’s expecting a gift. Well, that makes two of us.

I thought about giving someone else a birthday shout-out, but they are way too negative about getting older; so no shout-out for you!

This week at OneFresh Stir Fry there’s a special situation: the password is “7 Years” but there’s a kicker: If you know what they mean by 7 years, you get a free drink; If not, you get a free topping as a consolation prize. Personally, I think that’s when they graced Tallahassee with their presence, but as I told this Tallahassee Blogger, I think that it’s too easy.  Let me know if you try it out and if that’s it.

Well, Here’s what you may have missed last week Month on the blog (I just realized it’s the first Monday of March)

Here’s Monday 15: Love Abuse was this week

Monday 14: Short week

Monday 13: Facebook 25, and Respecting your elders.

Monday 12: I had a lot to discuss, like the puppy I almost got.  Don’t worry Fuzzmaster, I shall have you yet !!!

This weekend a couple things happened: I went to the “RBP” with a bunch of people from my G&G crew. We had a LOT of fun. Unfortunately, if you want a full account of what happened… I’ll let you know when (and where) I write about it; there’s NO way I’m talking about that party evening with friends here.

Last night, I had a great trip down memory lane. A classmate from Elementary school posted our 4th and 5th grade pictures on Facebook !!!  (no, I’m not going to point out who I am…)

It was even More entertaining when our 4th grade teacher actually started talking to us also. It was a crazy feeling of nostalgia; we started remembering all kinds of crazy things, like the time our teacher thought it would be a great  april fools prank to pretend she got fired. She had kids CRYING that day. *sighs*

For once, Facebook did something good; the ability to link up with not only college classmates, but people from high school, or even Elementary… it’s something amazing. To my classmates, I wish you nothing but the best, and to the Greatest 4th grade teacher ever; I wish you would get back to teaching- these kids are WAY too bad !!!

Monday the 13th

*dodges the black cat *

Alright everyone, it’s my 13th Monday Post.

** Update: If you go to OneFresh this week, get a free drink when you say ”this ain’t fast food.”  **

As usual, here’s what you might have missed from Last Monday:

I warned the masses about a email hoax

A pizza party that was broken up.

The temptation to go toe to toe with Madea

Finally, I made a stand against the Facebook 25. (which is NOT to be confused with the “Freshman 15” )

Friday Night was the start of the “Sleepout for the Homeless” event on campus. Every year, Phi Beta Sigma fraternity throws an event where a bunch of students brave the cold, donate non-perishable food and clothing to those less fortunate, and overall have a great time throughout the night.

Somehow… Every year, this event is held on one of the colder nights of the year. This year, no one seemed to mind that much. Everyone was jumping rope, and dancing, and just having an all-around good time.  I had originally planned that THIS was the year I was going to stay all night…

Yeah, I left at 2am. I actually ran into some Psiettes at the event, and I hung out with them for about an hour or so.

Kollage Dance Troupe performed,  some spoken word, a performance by the Black Actors Guild.

Couple things I did notice while I was out there in the cold:

  • The only time a guy should dance to this song is… Never actually.
  • That SOMEONE should get a good copy of this song. I’m tired of EVERYONE’s copy pausing at the SAME time.
  • When are the Practice sessions for all these dances? how is it that EVERYONE is dancing to these songs ???
  • Why are people running around on campus at night yelling about the Stimulus package???

All in all, this year’s event was one of the best I’ve been to. They served pizza this year (twice) and it just felt like better planning.

In other blog news, I’ve decided to shelf the Facebook status idea. It’s not as popular as I thought it would be.

I’ve also started playing Afro Samurai this weekend. Keep an eye out for my review.

Valentine’s Day is coming this weekend. Do you have plans for your significant other?

flowers? candy? teddy bears?

What are your plans? I’d love to hear about them (within reason. I’m looking at you, CBK)

My plans? I’ve got none. yup. none.

This year, Mrs. Blogmaster is in charge of the Hallmark Holiday. I’m taking a page out of Usher’s Book this year; (NSFW) besides, I need time to recharge my creative batteries.

I would also like to take this time to let everyone know (specifically men) that if you are planning to take this route use this gift, there are a few requirements:

  1. You discuss this IN ADVANCE with your significant other. It would be very embarrassing if you both had the thought that the OTHER had plans…
  2. You actually did something significant for the first couple of Valentine’s Days. A card and/or a box of chocolate do NOT count as “significant”
  3. You come up with something phenomenal the following Valentine’s (or which ever you are next “responsible” for)
  4. Even though I alluded to this in requirement 2, I am going to officially say it now: This canNOT be the FIRST valentine’s day you are celebrating with your significant other.

The  opportunity gift of a “Sadie Hawkins Valentine’s Day” is a rare, and most precious  opportunity. DON’T try to over use it. Unless, your Significant Other doesn’t care about Valentine’s Day… in that case, you’re off the hook.
